So i've been out of the deviantart loop for quite a while now. I've just come back from an amazing GAP year and am finally back into my studies; but for some reason on my year out i just couldn't draw...
Im not sure why this is, but nothing at all inspired me, or got me excited. It could have been because i was so busy and didn't really have time to do anything that took a lot of time, but i didn't even sketch. This has never happened to me before, usually im constantly doing something creative.
It could have also been to do with school, i very rarely in school found the projects that inspiring, and the syllabus for Art at school is very contrived. I love to draw, paint and be creative when i am inspired and am touched by something. At school you have to force creativity, or hope that you were inspired at the right times to coincide with projects. By the time i was 18, i just wanted to leave this uncreative atmosphere, and had lost patience with art.
Now im at uni, and i was very worried about getting back into drawing. But it has been no effort at all. I have not stopped drawing since i got here, and not because i have to! Im loving my course and finally i feel inspired by just about anything. It feels great! So no matter what people say about losing your ability to draw if you take a break; i actually think it heightens your ability, because its like starting fresh, you have a new basis of ideas and life experience to use and be creative with.

Thank you for appreciating the missing children.
